BiH general elections held amid technical problems with new equipment
Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina voted in general elections, using new voter-identification and ballot-scanning technology for the first time. The Pod Lupom coalition said its 888 observers had recorded 98 serious rule violations by 3pm and technical problems at 11.8 per cent of monitored polling stations, and coalition representative Hasan Kamenjaković said family voting still occurred. CEC BiH chairman Jovan Kalaba said one polling station in Bijeljina did not open, and CEC data showed 739,445 voters had cast ballots by 2pm. Bijeljina City Election Commission president Dijana Savić Božić gave RTRS varying numbers of affected stations and said some board members were withdrawing where scanners failed. In Mostar, commission head Mario Čuturić said seven to eight stations were affected, Banja Luka's commission had no confirmation that nine stations had opened, and Sarajevo Canton police said the day was passing in a secure environment.
