Fans gather in Zagreb to mark the death of Goran Bare

Hundreds of fans gathered in Zagreb's Vjekoslav Majer Park in Zapruđe to pay tribute to late Majke frontman Goran Bare, lighting candles, lanterns and torches while singing his songs, after the band earlier thanked the public for support and asked for the family's privacy to be respected.

A monitoring station has been installed at the PPK Velebit illegal waste site in Gospić to track PM2.5, PM10 and metal concentrations in the air during the site's remediation, according to Lika-Senj County. The station was set up at the City of Gospić's request by experts from the Split-Dalmatia County Institute of Public Health, with the county and the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund also involved.

Leaking at Poljud stadium during the Hajduk-Dinamo derby in Split

During Saturday's Hajduk-Dinamo derby at Poljud stadium in Split, heavy rain exposed the venue's shortcomings as water leaked through the roof onto the stands, boxes and the exit tunnel. Fight between masked football fans on the A8 motorway near Mihotići, police intervened

On the A8 motorway near Mihotići, close to Opatija, dozens of masked individuals clashed with a group of fans from Pula who were being escorted by police toward the Učka tunnel, according to the Primorje-Gorski Kotar police. Police say the Pula group was not injured and their vehicles were not damaged, with an investigation ongoing, while a fan portal unofficially names Rijeka's Armada and Pula's Demoni as the groups involved.

Croatia plans to build four waste-to-energy plants

According to the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Croatia plans to build four waste-to-energy plants near Šibenik, in Osijek, Rijeka and Zagreb, at various stages of preparation, with experts noting that construction can take eight to ten years from decision to operation.

Cause determined for fire at the Metis recycling centre in Pula

Police in Istria have reported that a fire which broke out on Friday at the Metis recycling centre in Pula's Šijana district was caused by a thermal reaction inside a pile of unsorted waste; the blaze was contained that evening and fully extinguished by Saturday morning, with one firefighter slightly injured.

A fire broke out on Saturday evening at the Sorinj waste sorting facility in Lopar on the island of Rab, burning around 20 of the roughly 80 tonnes of waste stored there; firefighters contained and fully extinguished it overnight without damage to nearby structures, and the cause remains unknown.

Police check in Slavonski Brod: foreign nationals banned from entering Croatia over provision of sexual services

Police in Slavonski Brod checked two Brazilian and two Colombian nationals over their short-term stay in Croatia and found they had been providing paid sexual services without a residence permit, after which all four received misdemeanour citations, orders cancelling their stay, and a three-month entry ban, while the two Colombians, who hold Portuguese residence permits, were also advised to go to Portugal.

Pula police open misdemeanour proceedings against young man who posted video of driving at 228 km/h on motorway

Istria county police say they have opened misdemeanour proceedings against a 21-year-old who posted a video on social media on 3 October showing him driving on a motorway at around 228 km/h. Police say the young man promoted dangerous driving by publishing the clip and behaved in a brazen and intrusive manner in public, in violation of public order legislation.

USKOK widens investigation into illegal waste dumping, suspects released without detention

USKOK said its investigation into illegal waste dumping in Gospić, Benkovac and Senj now covers 14 people and four companies over suspected dumping of thousands of tonnes of hazardous waste and document forgery, but no pretrial detention was sought as prosecutors said there were no grounds. BUZ party leader Milivoj Špika criticised the state prosecution and anti-corruption office, comparing them to a "catch, record and release" fishing club.
