Border police find cannabis plants near Brčko, two people arrested

Using a drone in sector A2 near the Sava river, Bosnia's Border Police discovered two sites near Brčko with a total of 41 cannabis-like plants, after which the duty prosecutor at the BiH Prosecutor's Office was notified and ordered surveillance of the area, and two people were arrested.

Reports by Canadian lobbying firm reveal activities for Republika Srpska authorities toward Israel and Saudi Arabia

Canadian lobbying firm Dickens & Madson, led by Ari Ben-Menashe, filed FARA reports with the US Department of Justice stating it contacted Israeli and Saudi officials on behalf of Republika Srpska's authorities to seek support for the entity's strengthened position and independence from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The contract was reportedly signed in 2025 by RS's representative in Austria, Mladen Filipović, and the claims of Israeli and Saudi backing originate solely from the firm's own report.

Difficult traffic conditions across Bosnia and Herzegovina due to wet roads, works and closed sections

According to BIHAMK, roads across Bosnia and Herzegovina are wet and slippery with increased landslide risk on sections in cuttings, and numerous sections have ongoing roadworks with altered traffic regimes. The A-1 motorway section Kakanj-Lašva is closed to all traffic and rerouted to the opposite carriageway, while the Golubinja-Nemila subsection is closed for motorway construction with traffic diverted to the M-17 trunk road.

Yellow weather alert in Bosnia for heavy rain in Livno, Mostar, Banja Luka and Trebinje

The Federal Hydrometeorological Institute forecast mostly cloudy weather with rain and local showers, occasionally with thunder, heaviest in Herzegovina and western/southwestern areas, prompting a yellow alert for Livno, Mostar, Banja Luka and Trebinje. New reports add that gradual clearing from the northwest is expected the next day while cloudy weather with intermittent rain persists centrally, eastward and in Herzegovina, with strong to gale-force bura winds forecast in the south.

Copernicus: September second-warmest on record, low water levels on several European rivers

The EU's Copernicus climate service reported that this September was the second-warmest on record globally, with an average temperature of 16.27°C, and the second consecutive month above 1.5°C over pre-industrial levels. Prolonged drought caused record-low September water levels on parts of the Rhine, Danube, Vistula, Garonne and Dordogne, disrupting shipping, water supply and agriculture in several countries.

USKOK and police carry out arrests in Zagreb, Split and Kaštela over suspected tobacco smuggling

Police, acting on orders from the State Attorney's Office for the Suppression of Organised Crime and Corruption (USKOK), are carrying out arrests and urgent evidentiary actions in Zagreb, Split and Kaštela against several people suspected of involvement in a criminal organisation linked to illegal tobacco trade. The operation is being conducted by the Split-Dalmatia police administration with Zagreb police, and USKOK said it will decide on further proceedings after questioning the suspects.

Changes to BiH indirect taxation authority rules allow the new Gradiška border crossing to operate permanently

BiH Council of Ministers finance minister Srđan Amidžić said changes to the Indirect Taxation Authority's regulations have enabled the new Gradiška border crossing to operate permanently, no longer on a temporary basis, after it became necessary following the collapse of part of the bridge at the old crossing. He also announced the old crossing will reopen once bridge repairs are completed.
