A 77-year-old woman has died in Stojnik near Sopot after a hornet swarm attack

A 77-year-old woman died on Friday evening in the yard of her home in the village of Stojnik near Sopot after being attacked by a swarm of hornets that stung her repeatedly on the head; emergency responders could not revive her, and an autopsy and investigation are underway.

Vučić and Dodik meet in Zrenjanin ahead of Serbian elections

Serbian list leader Aleksandar Vučić met SNSD leader Milorad Dodik in Zrenjanin, thanking him for years of cooperation and congratulating him on the SNSD's victory in Bosnia and Herzegovina's general elections. Pre-election rally of the Student List on the main square in Valjevo

A pre-election rally of the "Student List - students win" was held on the main square in Valjevo, addressed by candidates Katarina Stanković, Anđelka Bulatović, Dejan Đokić, Zlatko Kokanović and Mihail Dudaš. Candidate Zlatko Kokanović urged that the beating of children in Valjevo during earlier protests not be forgotten, while sources note the rally took place without a police cordon, five days after a rally in the same city addressed by Aleksandar Vučić.

Fire in a flat in Novi Beograd, 18 people evacuated

A fire broke out shortly after midnight in a first-floor flat in Pere Segedinca Street in Novi Beograd, Serbian media report. Firefighters evacuated 18 people and quickly brought the fire under control, with one person lightly injured and taken to hospital.

Trial begins for killing of Danka Ilic before Higher Court in Negotin

The trial of Dejan Dragijevic and Srdjan Jankovic, indicted for the aggravated murder of two-year-old Danka Ilic, is due to begin on 30 October before the Higher Court in Negotin, after the indictment by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Zajecar became final. The court rejected media requests for a copy of the indictment, citing risk to the upcoming proceedings, and the girl's body has still not been found.

Police in Zrenjanin detained two activists, named in reports as Minja (Milan) Pernat and Petar Petrović, from the PUF movement during a pro-government rally for Aleksandar Vučić's list and the SNS party. The PUF movement said the activists, who intended to ask questions, were held at a police station until the rally ended, while other members and a KTV television crew were reportedly blocked from moving freely.

Suspect arrested over attempted murder after traffic dispute in Zemun

Police, acting on an order from the Belgrade Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, arrested Jovan M. (21), suspected of stabbing N.P. in the chest during a traffic dispute in Zemun on October 10, attempting to kill him. Prosecutors said he is charged with attempted murder and has been detained for up to 48 hours pending questioning.

EDP comments on Student List pre-election rally in Niš and the 25 October elections

The European Democratic Party (EDP), a European Parliament grouping, commented on a Student List pre-election rally in Niš, saying Aleksandar Vučić is following in the footsteps of former Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán, and claimed Belgrade authorities make voting difficult for the diaspora by requiring voting on Serbian local time, ahead of the 25 October elections.

SNS press conference accuses Student List of fraud and violence against women

SNS official Ana Brnabić, at a party press conference, accused members of the student movement of violence against women and Student List candidates of fraud and a false anti-corruption fight, naming certain university professors. It was also claimed at the conference that the list's prime-ministerial candidate Dejan Šoškić did not meet the requirements for appointment as full professor.

Police stop TV crew from covering SNS pre-election rally in Zrenjanin

ANEM reported that police in Zrenjanin prevented a local TV crew from KTV from covering an SNS pre-election rally, deploying a riot police cordon that pushed back journalists and citizens. ANEM said the crew refused to withdraw while livestreaming the event, with its president calling it a breach of media law.

Academic Plenum demands publication of list of people pardoned by Vučić

The Academic Plenum says it believes a list of 49 people pardoned by Aleksandar Vučić before he resigned as Serbia's president is being deliberately withheld until after parliamentary elections, and has demanded authorities publish it immediately, questioning whether it includes people linked to the Novi Sad railway canopy collapse that killed 16.
