Candidate of the European Serbia list makes claims about household and public debt

Serbia's election commission (RIK) rejected Student List complaints about the number of polling stations and voting hours abroad for the 25 October parliamentary election, prompting the student movement to announce an appeal to the Administrative Court and accuse RIK of 'election sabotage'. The Student List says over 111,000 citizens registered to vote abroad in 37 countries, while RIK approved 93 polling stations and tied overseas voting hours to Serbia's local time.

Bećković endorses "Authentic Right" list ahead of Serbia's snap parliamentary elections

Academic Matija Bećković has endorsed the "Authentic Right – Dr Miloš Jovanović" list, formed by the New DSS and Monarchists, ahead of Serbia's snap parliamentary elections set for October 25. According to a statement by the New DSS, Bećković said it was time for Serbia to "put a crown on its head," referencing the crown already present on the state coat of arms and flag.

Tepić announces financial probes into officials' assets and a fund to recover looted money

Marinika Tepić, one of the leaders of the 'European Serbia' electoral list, said the list would push for systematic financial investigations into the assets of officials, party figures and businesspeople suspected of illicit enrichment. She said any illegally acquired assets would go into a 'Fund for the Return of Looted Money' meant to compensate victims and fund healthcare, education and infrastructure.

Belgrade prosecutors appeal replacement of custody with ankle monitors for three defendants in Senjak killing case

Belgrade's Higher Public Prosecutor's Office said it questioned Bojan K. (32) and Valentina J. (22) on suspicion of unauthorised possession of around 10 kilograms of amphetamine for sale, found on 8 October in a churchyard in Zvezdara; the prosecution has proposed detention.

Serbian agriculture ministry reports drop in field fires from 500 to 16 a day

Serbia's agriculture ministry reported that a joint action with the interior ministry reduced daily field fires from around 500 to 16 following measures agreed on October 1; six people caught burning crop residue admitted to it, four were detained, and their farms will be placed on passive status losing state subsidies.

A fire broke out around 3am in Jovanke Radaković Street in Belgrade's Mirijevo neighbourhood, destroying four rent-a-car vehicles and damaging the facade of a nearby residential building, with residents evacuated and no injuries reported. Firefighters brought the blaze under control by around 3:30am, and initial investigation findings reportedly suggest the fire may have been deliberately set, with police searching for those responsible.

Girl struck by stolen car in Novi Pazar, driver flees scene

A car struck a girl on Oslobođenja Street in Novi Pazar near a primary school, and the driver reportedly fled the scene. Media cite unconfirmed reports that the car, a Renault, had been stolen from a construction site in the city that same day, and the driver's identity remains unknown.

Ponoš calls on opposition to discuss possible refusal to hand over power after elections

Zdravko Ponoš, leader of the Srbija centar party and a top candidate on the Evropska Srbija list, said in a podcast that opposition actors should already begin discussing what to do if the current authorities do not hand over power peacefully after the snap parliamentary elections set for 25 October.
