Prosecutors open case against Belgrade mayor over suspected assault on city councillor

Belgrade's Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed a preliminary investigation is underway against Mayor Aleksandar Šapić, suspected of grievous bodily harm and violent conduct after an incident involving city councillor Tatjana Mićić in the Bežanijska kosa neighbourhood, with accounts of who started the altercation differing. An extraordinary city assembly session on the mayor's dismissal has been scheduled for 13 October.

A hearing was held at the Belgrade First Basic Court for Vladan Sretenović, charged over an attack on an N1 television crew last November outside the Serbian parliament, and ANEM president Veran Matić said the defendant appeared wearing a shirt and cap bearing images and quotes linked to Ratko Mladić, which media say the judge did not address.

Prosecutors gather evidence in complaint against Kristijan Golubović over alleged assault in Zvezdara

Belgrade's First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office has instructed police to collect witness statements and other evidence in a criminal complaint Nada Pucarević filed against Kristijan Golubović over an alleged assault on 5 June 2026 in Zvezdara, and a separate restraining order protecting his former partner Kristina Spalević, who earlier reported him for violence, has been extended to 8 January 2027, with Spalević releasing a chat log and photo she says support Pucarević's claims.
